Weekend Review

So this past weekend was a crazy weekend for Miss Caitlin. She had a busy time meeting a bunch of new people...now most of you are thinking oh wow, Caitlin met some new friends, they had people over, etc. No, not the case, Caitlin met new people because she was admitted to Children's Hospital on Saturday morning.

Here is a little back story to get you up to date. On Monday evening our friends called to inform us that their children had been exposed and had croup. So on Tuesday as a precaution we went ahead and took Caitlin to see her doctor. Well sure enough she was diagnosed with viral croup. So we get her started on breathing treatments at home for 4 times a day as needed. So I (mommy) stay home with her on Wednesday just to be safe, plus Caitlin had a small fever (101.6) so we didn't want to get other kids at daycare sick. Well by Wednesday evening Caitlin seemed to have been doing much better. So she returns to daycare on Thursday. Does fine no fever, healthy appetite and all.

Then Friday rolls around....we again take her to daycare, she seems to be doing fine and all. We don't get a phone call from her daycare provider. So I pick Caitlin up at our usual time on Friday and her daycare lady is telling me about Caitlin's day, when out of nowhere she starts coughing nonstop and is throwing up, so of course I bring her home and call Derek at work. We take her temp and it is close to a 101.8!! So off to urgent care we go... they do their normal test for things, and come to the conclusion that Caitlin has brocholitatis. So we get the instructions to take her home and watch her fever and such. So there ends Friday night!

Early Saturday morning (6:00a.m.) we get up to check her diaper and her temp. Derek being the awesome dad and husband he is, goes ahead and takes the lead so I can sleep a little. Well he picked her up and noticed she was rather warm, so while changing the diaper he decides to check her temp....he walks into the room and says "Her fever is 102.8!" So of course we try the Tylenol to help bring it down, that doesn't work only increased the temp to 102.9 in 30 minutes, so off to Children's Hospital she went. We went to ER where they ran blood test, x-rays, gave her oxygen etc. The ER doctor decided that it would be best to admit Caitlin for the following reasons 1). Dehydration 2). Double Ear Infection. 3). Brocholitias and 4). Pneumonia. So we head upstairs to where Caitlin is finally admitted.
