Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night

Well the weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful and since we have no place to go...Let it Snow, Let is Snow, Let it Snow.
Never before have those words rang more true. This Christmas Eve will be spent snug in our own beds as the weather is leaving us unable to travel back home to spend with the family. We are making the most of it though with making Christmas Soup and then of course Christmas cookies for Santa. Caitlin is all snug in her bed and we are preparing for Santa to stop by the Loseke household.
On a more serious note I hope everyone is with the family and friends this Christmas Eve and is gathering for the true meaning of Christmas.Tonight we prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ our savior. We hope you all gather to celebrate the Reason for the Season.
From our family to yours may your Christmas be full of love, laughter and celebration. Much love to you all.
Derek, Barb and Caitlin.

A is for Apple....

Caitlin, Derek and I had a great day and half of snow days this past week in Omaha. We got to spend some great family time together and work on our ABC's. We created flashcards a few weeks ago and have slowly been introducing different letters and such to Caitlin. We worked most with A this past week and different items that start with that letter, such as, Apple, Airplane,Alligator etc. So on Thursday morning when I showed Caitlin a picture of the letter A very proudly said A then when we showed her the picture of the apple. She looked at me and said "apple" very clearly. We are so excited that she is learning her ABC's and also increasing her vocabulary. She is becoming such a independent girl. Hope everyone has a great Saturday. It is supposed to be somewhat of a nice day in Omaha. Maybe we will go outside to build a snow man.

15 months old already.

Today Caitlin and I get to spend the day together today since daycare is closed. We have such a busy schedule of hanging up Christmas lights and decorations on the tree, but will probably wait for Daddy to do some of it so he can have fun with us too. We also have a few presents to wrap and put under the tree.
We will also take some time out to play and spend time hanging out just Mommy and Caitlin. She is getting so big. I can't believe she is 15 months old already. So much has happened in the last 15 months and I could not imagine any of it without her. She is so much fun. She has the walking down and is on her way to running. She is also learning more words by the day, maybe even minute as it seems. Every morning she gets up and tells us Hi and then it's non stop from there...wonder who she learned that one from? We are also now starting to learn our favorites...favorite food is bananas. We have to use code words when making our grocery list so that she doesn't walk into the kitchen stand next to the table and say "nana". So cute!!! We also have a favorite toy and chair and of course blanket and when it all comes together for a little bit we have the happiest girl in the world. I am hoping to take pictures of all the fun we have today and get them up later. Have a great day everyone. Only 3 weeks until Christmas... So excited.

Happy Halloween 2009.

I can't believe how quickly October came and went. We concluded the crazy month with Caitlin's 2nd Halloween. We had a great day filled with going to the Bellevue Berry and Pumpkin Patch where Caitlin had her first hay rack ride which was a little cold but never the less a lot of fun. We also were able to pick out some pumpkins and got a great deal on them.

After the pumpkin patch we were able to go do some light trick or treating at a few of the agent's houses that work out of Barb's office. Then Derek had to go off to patrol the neighborhoods for other trick or treaters and Caitlin and I stayed home to hand out the candy.

Here are some pictures of Caitlin in her costume(s), yes she had 2 different costumes as we were not sure which one would fit her the best. Hope everyone had a great Halloween.

Caitlin's Weekend Update

Caitlin is becoming such a mover and a shaker now. She is walking more and more everyday and really starting to figure it out. She still has her moments when she thinks crawling is easier but has now realized she can walk with the big kids. She also is realizing that walking can get you into a little more trouble when it comes to bumping your head on things. She has a little bruise on her face from where she decided to walk into the side of the couch at daycare. It didn't seem to slow her down one bit though.

She is also starting to explore more foods, we for sure have a fruit and veggie lover in the house. Her all time favorite fruit is the banana. Every time she hears the word she goes super crazy and does a little dance. She is such a monkey when it comes to her bananas. She is also really starting to like corn and peas. We are still trying to work on the green beans but without much luck. She is for sure keeping us on our toes and we are loving every minute of it.

We finally have a weekend at home and I think both Derek and I as well as Caitlin are enjoying just hanging out and not running around town. I am hoping to get some new pictures and video of her up soon so keep your eyes and ears open.

The Great Adventures of Caitlin....

Well the time has finally come. Miss Caitlin has grown into another step of independence and big girl status. As of Sunday the 4th....Caitlin is walking!!!! She gets so excited about walking that she does a little dance before she starts to move around. We are very excited that she is walking and its so much fun to see her steps and move about. She really likes to walk to her chair in the living room and then sit down, then stand on the chair, then sit down, the decide to be on the move again. She also likes to walk to her penguin give it a hug and then walk away. We will be sure to have the video of Caitlin's new adventures up soon. Hope everyone has a great weekend and tries to stay warm.

Welcome October

Caitlin is really enjoying her second fall. I can't believe that she will be 13 months in just a few short days. She is continuing to grow so fast each day. We are currently working on learning "no" and "yes". Which Caitlin has "no" down so well and is gradually learning yes. Her vocabulary is growing as fast as she is tall. We are up to about 15 words or so and learning to put words together to make sentences. I am most proud of her ability to say "please" and "thank you".

We now have 12 teeth and she is exploring more foods that allow her to chew with all teeth, we recently tried oranges in which Caitlin was so proud to feed herself and really enjoyed. We are still working on the veggies that are not mashed up baby food, but she still loves her Green Beans and Rice. (Thank you Gerber).

Well she is keeping us on our toes including now, she is dropping her toys down the stairs and letting us know "uh-oh". Hope everyone has a great weekend and is able to stay warm.

Caitlin's Birthday Party Celebration

We want to start off by thanking everyone who was able to share in Caitlin's 1st birthday. We had a great day for a party. Caitlin is enjoying all her presents, even the boxes they came in. :). We feel so blessed to have great family and friends around us yesterday to help us all celebrate a great milestone. It's hard for us to believe that our little baby is already one, but we could ask for better people to spend it with. Again thank you so much for sharing in her day.

I have included a little picture slide show of some great moments of her birthday celebration. Oh and for those of you curious enough she went to bed at 10 and woke up around 9p.m. that girl can handle sugar with the best of them. :). Thank you all again for helping us celebrate Caitlin's first birthday.

It's here....It's here...it's finally here!!!!

One year ago our lives changed for the better with the birth of our beautiful daughter. Today we are celebrating her 1st birthday. I can't believe how quickly the time has passed.

One year ago today at 9:29p.m. the world welcomed Caitlin Rae Loseke. She was a beautiful 7lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long. Today she is still that beautiful girl who is a little bit bigger, a little bit taller, but still our baby girl.

One year ago today I remember looking at my husband and saying what have we gotten ourselves into. :). Today we handle the bumps and bruises, cries and laughs with such joy and passion in our hearts. It is amazing to see all that is accomplished in just one year.

Happy Birthday Caitlin from Mommy and Daddy. We both love you so much and look forward to the years to come and all your new adventures.

Now its time for rest because Caitlin's big birthday party is tomorrow!!!! We can't wait. the batteries in the camera are charging the memory card is empty and we are set for Caitlin to be all crazy with her birthday cake... stay tuned for the pictures.

Happy 11 month Birthday Caitlin

Miss Caitlin turned 11 months old today, I am still trying to figure out where the time has gone. The one thing I do know is that it has gone by to quickly.
I can't believe our "baby" is just a few short weeks away from being 1!!! Both Mama and Dada are so proud of her. She is getting to be so big. We had a check up when we went to the ER a few nights ago and Caitlin now weighs 22.30 pounds and is about 28 inches long.
She is really starting to walk along things, she still isn't so sure about walking independently yet but if she has a hand or something to hold onto she is moving like crazy. She is learning more words everyday it seems, her vocabulary now is up to, Mama, Dada, Bye-Bye, Baba (bottle), Hi and I am sure a few more words we just haven't figured them out yet. She is also getting her "So Big", Waving Bye-Bye and clapping down. She is just a awesome little girl.
Watch her mail for the birthday invitation and be ready to party like a 1 year old!

Caitlin's Midnight Run

So Caitlin has not been feeling good on and off for about a week now, she mostly has been getting sick and a little more tired than normal. We just figured it was part of routine of her getting 2 more teeth in.

Well yesterday evening when Mommy picked her up from daycare, we noticed she was feeling a little warm so we took her temp and it was 100.8, so she had a little temp. We waited about 30 minutes and took it again and it had jumped to 102.3. Poor girl just wasn't feeling good. So we kept an eye on her all night and then around 10 or so, Miss Caitlin decided to let her temp get to 103.2. So off to Children's Hospital we went. By the time we got there her temp was up to 104.1, which made Caitlin turn to a yellow color, which I guess is normal with a high temp. The nice nurses and doctor came in and took some of Caitlin's blood to check her white blood count and her electrolytes, which all came back okay. So Miss Caitlin now has a viral infection. We finally left Children's around 12:30 this morning. So our weekend plans have changed and now are focused on getting Caitlin all better.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Happy 10 month Birthday

So we are now on the official 2 month count down to Caitlin turning 1!!! I can not believe how quickly the time has gone. I remember when Miss Caitlin was just 2 months old. She is learning more and more everyday.

She is talking up a storm and walking with assistance around the house. She is growing so much she is now right around 20 lbs and 28/29 inches long. Her new favorite after nap snack is Cheerio's and water. We also had our 9 month pictures take with Angie at New World Designs in Columbus and once again we are so happy about her pictures, Angie does an amazing job and really captures these moments that are going by just to quickly.

Here is one of my favorite pictures from her photo session. Again Thank You to Angie w/ New World Design for another amazing job.

Happy 4th of July

Caitlin celebrated her 1st 4th of July with friends, family, parties and of course the occasional firework. We had a very busy weekend with traveling between Omaha and Columbus to see family. We spent the 3rd in Columbus for Grandma & Grandpa's annual 4th of July party. Caitlin got to play with the puppy and her cousin's Logan and Kole.

The 4th was spent back in Omaha where Daddy was in the Ralston Parade then after a short nap it was off to our friend's Jason & Tracy for their neighborhood block party. Caitlin had her first experience with fireworks there, she was not a big fan of the loud booms and pops, but after a while thought the colors were pretty and would laugh every time the went off.

We hope everyone had a great 4th of July.

Happy Father's Day

Today is Derek's official 1st Father's Day. We just wanted to wish him a happy Father's Day. We have a lot of fun planned today with breakfast in bed for dad, a bbq later today and just overall relaxing at the Loseke household. Caitlin gave Derek a picture of them for Father's Day as well as a "Daddy's Day Out" which is a round of golf. She also learned how to pull herself up into the standing position for him last night. She is getting to be so big and she is learning to lover her daddy more and more everyday.

We are wishing all the dad's and daddy's a Happy Father's Day.

It's June already

It has been another crazy month for us. I can not believe how quickly the month of May went by. We were busy it seems like every weekend with fun and work things to do.

We are now into June and Caitlin is now 9 months old. She is doing some great things and is amazing us everyday. She is crawling around like crazy and getting into almost everything all the time. Her favorite crawl destination is into the kitchen the difference from the carpet to the kitchen floor. She also likes to pull open the cabinet doors or at least tries to get them open. When she is finished in her tour of the kitchen she heads down the hall to the door stops, you know the ones that when you hit it with your toe makes the funny noise. She plays with those at least 10-15 minutes at a time. So many fun things to when you get to crawl on all fours.

Happy (8 Month) Birthday Caitlin

Today Caitlin has turned 8 months old. Time has really gone by fast. We are having such a great time learning and discovering new things everyday.

Caitlin is really becoming her own individual and Derek and I are quickly learning her likes and dislikes. She for the most part is a smile, happy-go-lucky girl. She loves to roll around on the floor and is picking up the idea of crawling really quickly. She gets up on her and knees really easy and the rocks back and forth, she can crawl backwards without a problem, its the forward that has her stumbling.

Her new adventures are now that she likes to stand. She either wants to hold your hand or hold herself up against something but she really enjoys standing. Which reminded Derek and I that we need to really baby proof the house.

I guess its time to start thinking about her "big" birthday party, because as quickly as time is going now...September will be right around the corner.

Updated on the Loseke Family

(Caitlin playing peek-a-boo in her toy box)

So it has been a few days since I last updated the blog. Things are very crazy around here right now. It seems as if I don't have time to sit down and relax anymore.

Caitlin is started to be on the move, no not crawling yet, but she is getting up on all 4 and rocking back and forth. Instead she rolls across the floor to get where she needs to go. She is having a blast doing so as well.

In other news a few of us have been under the weather the last couple of days. Caitlin gave me a pretty big worry on Saturday, she is starting to have night terrors and it freaked her out so much that she started getting sick, which in turn, made her choke and stop breathing...so off to Children's Urgent Care we went. It ends up that she has a viral infection, a cold, a double ear infection and (drum roll please)..... 4 teeth coming in...all at the same time... Poor girl, but luckily she is in such a good mood all the time.

Derek is also under the weather bug, he had not been feeling good over the weekend, so I made a doctor's appointment for him this morning and now he has Strep...so I have to keep the two sickies away from each other, which with an 8 month old who can't spend time with her daddy and she does not like that ideal at all. So they still hang out and watch some movies together.

Okay well off to bed before I join the couch of sick people. Have a great night.

Caitlin's 7 months old

(Caitlin helping hold up her birthday sign)
I first want to start off by apologizing that I have not put up Caitlin's 7 month picture or stats from her doctor's appointment the other day. Things are getting busier and busier around the Loseke household. So without further daily. Here is the picture and new updates on Caitlin.

As of her latest appointment Caitlin is now weighing in at 17 lbs and 9 ounces, a full ten pounds heavier then the day she was born. She is also towering in at 26 1/4 inches long. Which is a full six inches longer than the day she was born. She is right on track for her weight, but actually a little bit on the tiny side of her height, which doctor's are not to worried about at this point.

She of course is still doing amazing things every day. We are really enjoying this age and all the great things she has done so far. She is now a pro at eating veggies and fruit, as of now we can say her favorite veggie is green peas and her favorite fruit is a toss up between applesauce and prunes. Yes prunes. We are going to soon be starting her on the mixed fruits so we will see what becomes her new favorite. She also is enjoying playing with toys, she really loves her "What do you see" book, which of course has a mirror on the front and she gets super happy to see her reflection. She is not so interested in laying on her back anymore. She would rather be sitting up on on her tummy, trying her best to crawl around. Speaking of crawling, Caitlin on Easter morning, for the 1st time was able to get up on her hands and knees and was rocking back and forth. If I had to protect she will be crawling by the end of the month or early next month.

We will keep you informed on all her new great adventures.

We just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter. We are excited to celebrate Caitlin's 1st Easter with our family.

We hope everyone has a blessed Easter.

Happy Birthday Caitlin

Happy Birthday to You....Happy Birthday to You.... Happy 7 month birthday Caitlin.

Caitlin is now 7 months old. I can't believe our little girl is getting to be so big. I know everyone says the being pregnant will go by fast and that children grow up fast, but wow it's like a blink of an eye fast.

Caitlin had a wonderful day with family. She even gotten a cell phone today. Of course it has a picture of a puppy, kitty and a pig on it, and plays fun musical numbers, but she still might be the youngest person to get a cell phone for her birthday.

She of course is still learning everyday and impressing Mommy and Daddy with her great skills. She has not started crawling yet, but she has learned how to push herself backwards when she is up on her hands.

She is eating solids like a champ, she just recently started on fruits in the last week and really love the bananas and pears.

Caitlin is American's Next Top (baby) Model

(photo courtesy of New World Design Photography)

Caitlin had her 6 month pictures taken last weekend and let me tell you they are amazing. Angie with New World Designs did an amazing job. Let me know if you want her information. I will recommend her until I am blue in the face. Caitlin had such a great job and we ended up with over 500 pictures!!!!

In one of the pictures Caitlin is wearing a very cute Crocheted Beanie Hat. ( I must buy one or two). Well the lady who makes them saw how cute Caitlin looked in them and now Caitlin is the baby model on the website for the hats and headbands.

You can see her site here (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22804286). Let me tell you Caitlin looks so cute in the hats (as you can see in the picture above). I am so proud of our little baby model.

Again thanks to Angie with New World Designs Photography and to Kissable Kreations for thinking Caitlin was cute enough to use her on her website.

It means a lot in my family and would like to pass it along to you.

Caitlin visits the zoo

Friday was a beautiful day in Omaha so Derek and I decided to take the day off of work and spend time with Caitlin. It was a late "Happy 1/2 year birthday" celebration for both daddy and Caitlin.

Caitlin really seemed to enjoy discovering new things, the animals, the sounds, other people. She is becoming such a little explorer. I think her favorite discovery was the Cat Complex. She really seemed to like the African Lions and they seem to have liked her as well. They both followed each other as they walked up and down the hallway.

She seems to be somewhat interested in the monkey's and their playing around, but most of all I think she really enjoyed spending the day with mommy and daddy. Well I know we enjoyed spending the day with her.

Caitlin's 6 months old!!!!!!!!!!!!

Derek and I spent a great evening at home with our 6 month old Caitlin. I know I say this almost every time, but I can't believe how quickly she has grown. She is really starting to come in to her own personality. We are really starting to discover her likes and dislikes.

She went and say the doctor the other day and she is now 15 lbs 9 ounces and 25 inches long. So from her birth weight of 7 lbs 9 ounces and 20 1/4 inches long. She is right on track for her age group.

We are so proud of her and her accomplishments. It's so crazy to see how much she has learned in the last 6 months. It's a phone book long list, well we as her parents, think is a phone book long list of accomplishments that she has made in the last 6 months. Its so crazy to watch her when she was just a few weeks old and just laid around hanging out to now where she is jumping around in her jumperoo...or trying to crawl across the living room floor to her being able to sleep through the night and starting to eat solid foods.

We are so proud of our little girl. We can't believe how quickly this time has gone and can only imagine that it goes by so much quicker as she gets older.

February Flew By

I didn't realize how quickly time was going to fly by this fast. February was a very busy month for the Loseke family. It was a great month for Caitlin to grow, grow, and do some more growing.

We of course had Caitlin's first Valentine's Day, in which she enjoyed a night at home with her parents. We not only saw the appearance of Caitlin sitting up a little more on her own, but we also meet her first two teeth. That is right our little girl now has her bottom two teeth. She really enjoys showing them off with her great big smiles.

Caitlin is now sitting up a little bit more on her one. She can take sit a little longer before she reaches for her toes and tries to eat them. :) She is also enjoying the challenge of learning to crawl. Caitlin can figure out her feet no problem, its just the hands that are getting to be the problem, but inside of getting upset about it. She seems take the opportunity to find her thumb. So thanks February for making our little girl grow and learn. We welcome March and all the great learning curves it will send our way.

We are spending the day at home just the 3 of us. Caitlin really is learning a lot these days, it is really amazing to watch her grow. She has some fun Valentine's to play with so that is the goal for today. Cozy up at home with and just enjoy the day.

Happy Birthday Caitlin

Mommy (and Daddy) wow I'm a big girl now...
Caitlin is getting so big. She is now 5 months old. Her check list of things is getting longer but she is checking things off pretty quickly. She is now rolling over like its no big deal and prefers to be on her tummy. It helps her hold her head up and look at all the fun things around her. She is now even trying to crawl more so and is able to get her feet up under her and move along, but just can't figure out how to work the arms at the same time. I will add her 5 month pictures later today, but Happy 5 month Birthday Caitlin.

Caitlin's Update

Caitlin is becoming such a big girl these days. She is accomplishing so much now a days. She is learning more and more everyday. She is now able to roll over from both her back to her front, and front to back. She really seems to enjoy rolling from her back to her stomach more and looks around to see who saw her great accomplishment. She is very proud of herself, and so are we. She is "scooting" across the floor when on her stomach a little bit. I think this little girl will be crawling soon. When she is on her stomach and in the mood to "crawl", if you put you hand on her feet she will move a pretty great distance. She is getting so big. I can't believe how quickly time is going. She will be 5 months old next week.

Her new big accomplishment is cereal. She has cereal a couple of times now and is doing so well. She is even taking the spoon and wanting to do it herself, such a big helper. I have included some pictures of Caitlin and her first time eating cereal. Bon appetite.

Caitlin's Great Adventure 2.0

Caitlin is doing a lot better since her adventure last weekend at Children's Hospital. To prove what a great time she had, I decided to add a few pictures of her. She is doing so much better now. We are still having a little bit of a hard time getting past the 6 ounces of food without getting sick but she is still doing great. So enjoy your pictures and the snow that is falling outside.

Weekend Review

So this past weekend was a crazy weekend for Miss Caitlin. She had a busy time meeting a bunch of new people...now most of you are thinking oh wow, Caitlin met some new friends, they had people over, etc. No, not the case, Caitlin met new people because she was admitted to Children's Hospital on Saturday morning.

Here is a little back story to get you up to date. On Monday evening our friends called to inform us that their children had been exposed and had croup. So on Tuesday as a precaution we went ahead and took Caitlin to see her doctor. Well sure enough she was diagnosed with viral croup. So we get her started on breathing treatments at home for 4 times a day as needed. So I (mommy) stay home with her on Wednesday just to be safe, plus Caitlin had a small fever (101.6) so we didn't want to get other kids at daycare sick. Well by Wednesday evening Caitlin seemed to have been doing much better. So she returns to daycare on Thursday. Does fine no fever, healthy appetite and all.

Then Friday rolls around....we again take her to daycare, she seems to be doing fine and all. We don't get a phone call from her daycare provider. So I pick Caitlin up at our usual time on Friday and her daycare lady is telling me about Caitlin's day, when out of nowhere she starts coughing nonstop and is throwing up, so of course I bring her home and call Derek at work. We take her temp and it is close to a 101.8!! So off to urgent care we go... they do their normal test for things, and come to the conclusion that Caitlin has brocholitatis. So we get the instructions to take her home and watch her fever and such. So there ends Friday night!

Early Saturday morning (6:00a.m.) we get up to check her diaper and her temp. Derek being the awesome dad and husband he is, goes ahead and takes the lead so I can sleep a little. Well he picked her up and noticed she was rather warm, so while changing the diaper he decides to check her temp....he walks into the room and says "Her fever is 102.8!" So of course we try the Tylenol to help bring it down, that doesn't work only increased the temp to 102.9 in 30 minutes, so off to Children's Hospital she went. We went to ER where they ran blood test, x-rays, gave her oxygen etc. The ER doctor decided that it would be best to admit Caitlin for the following reasons 1). Dehydration 2). Double Ear Infection. 3). Brocholitias and 4). Pneumonia. So we head upstairs to where Caitlin is finally admitted.

Happy Birthday Caitlin

So Caitlin is now 4 months old! I can't believe how big she is getting. She is really starting to become a lot more interactive with people and her toys. She really enjoys her jumperoo and excersaucer. Some of her favorite toys now seem to be her glow seahorse that her Uncle Mike got her for Christmas and of course her books. We are still in search of a Clifford dog for her as at Christmas she feel in love with her Aunt Valerie's dog....she really enjoys the cartoon on PBS that she gets to watch everyday after Mom picks her up from Roxanne's (the day care lady). Her accomplishments are now, she is rolling over with the best of them, really likes to "talk" and is trying to put her legs under her tummy...I am guessing she will be crawling soon.

A Christmas picture or two....

We have been a little busy with after holiday relaxing....so I am finally getting some pictures up of Caitlin and her 1st Christmas...I think the outfit she had that day says it best...."Who needs Santa, I've got Grandparents". She and all of us had a great Christmas and a great start to the new year.
